Appreciation: GYGO! (Get Your Gratitude On)

Are you having a good day? Is your day lousy? Do you have supportive people in your corner and a smile on your face ~ or is the world against you and you just can’t catch a break? It may be time to take a closer look at what has your attention. Whether you do it or not probably depends on your current mood.

Last week, I read a Facebook post from a friend about suddenly finding 4-leaf clovers. She said, “Somehow I have become a 4-leaf clover magnet.”  Fascinating. Have you ever noticed that once you start looking for something, more of it shows up? Whether it’s a clover, a green car, something to smile about or something that’s irritating – we get what we give our attention and energy. You have the power to change how you feel. It all starts with what you are seeking.

Do you know a constant complainer? They have a gripe for EVERYTHING. The weather, traffic, not enough sleep, too much or too little of this or that. They drain energy out of everyone and everything around them. It’s contagious. Without diligence and awareness you can quickly get sucked into their isn’t-it-awful Pit of Despair.

Gratitude and appreciation serve as a healthy practice and strong antidote for stinking thinking. If our experience is determined by our attention and what gets our energy, what could happen when we choose to appreciate the good things in our life with greater intensity? If we start to seek out and express gratitude we just might become a magnet for whatever it is we are thankful for, maybe even 4-leaf clovers.

That’s why I love this picture. Doesn’t matter where you are or where you finish, if you aren’t grateful for what you have, you certainly won’t be any happier with more. Isn’t it worth a test drive?

Go ahead and GYGO: Get Your Gratitude On! Appreciate what is. You may find your life is a happier, more fulfilling and inviting place.  Let me know how it goes.
